When you are looking for a lot more than just another rodeo, make your rodeo a Big Hat Phenomenon. Below are some of the common questions that we’ve been asked and would like to answer for you. If you have other questions please contact us at: (815) 823-3245
Q. What things do we have to provide to have a Big Hat Rodeo on our grounds?
A. Good news. The only items you need are electricity(120), water, an ambulance during all competition periods, a tractor with implements to work the ground and a forklift for unloading and loading of the arena equipment. All LABOR IS INCLUDED.
Q. How large an area is required?
A. A major advantage of our totally portable system is that we can perform on virtually any size or shape site. Ideally for the arena, holding pens and timed event pens we’d have at least 100 feet in width and 300 feet in length BUT we’ve produced great rodeos with as little as 48 feet in width and as much as 200 feet in width and lengths anywhere from 200 feet to 400 feet.
Q. How long are the rodeo performances?
A. We try to keep performances no longer than 2-2 1/2 hours, plus intermission, if you choose to have one; bleachers are never overly comfortable.
Q. Do you offer advertising support?
A. Absolutely. We furnish you with a complete promotional package featuring everything you’ll need in a camera-ready format. You’ll also get a checklist of “things to do” prior to your rodeo with a suggested timetable, a list of fun promotional activities you can choose from and a terrific rodeo action DVD. Most importantly, we have a staff of rodeo professionals who are available to answer questions, offer suggestions and just listen to help minimize costs and maximize revenues.
Q. What about insurance? Are the contestants insured? Our Property? The spectators?
A. Yes. Yes & Yes! Contestants are insured through their membership in the International Professional Rodeo Assn (IPRA), property & spectators are covered under Big Hat’s Liability policy. Your organization and others you deem appropriate such as major sponsors are named as additional insured’s and you’ll get a certificate of insurance prior to arrival at your site. Big Hat is proud that we’ve never had a claim.
Q. How many people do we need to put on our rodeo?
A. Many rodeos use all volunteers with limited time. We provide a complete package, including labor, so you can concentrate your time on the items that make you money: selling sponsorships, advertising and tickets! Of course, you’ll need ticket sellers & takers, parking people, concessions and security on rodeo days. A great chairperson to keep everyone organized and on the same page is essential!
