2009 Big Hat Award Series...
Each season Big Hat Rodeo creates a contestant awards series based on input from contestants, sponsors and rodeo committees. Contestants competing in participating rodeos earn bonus points for each rodeo they compete in and additional points every time they place in any event.
Fuel cards are presented to the winners of each event at all Series rodeos and special awards are designed for the winners of a specific event each year. In 2008, the winner of the Barrel Racing at each Series rodeo was given a custom designed jewelry set. In 2009, the Bull Riding winners will receive bonus gifts.
The contestants who accumulate the most points in each of the seven events will be declared the winners and will receive a variety of prizes including championship buckles and merchandise. The contestant winning the most money throughout the Series, competing in 1 or multiple events will receive the buckle and bonus cash for being the high money winner at the Series Finale rodeo.
Participating rodeos and contestants alike have reaped benefits from the incentive program. Contestant numbers have risen at the rodeos and the contestants have received nearly $10,000.00 in awards.
